Meet The Artist!

Hello! I’m Cody Barney, the owner and artist behind Wyoming Rustic Creations. Born and raised on a ranch near Medicine Bow, Wyoming, I grew up surrounded by wide-open skies, rugged landscapes, and a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of my home state. Those early days on the ranch taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and the simple pleasures found in the great outdoors.

My Journey into Artistry

For years, I’ve been drawn to the unique character of juniper wood scattered throughout Wyoming’s remote hills. What began as a hobby—crafting small gifts and lamps for friends and family—soon grew into something much larger. After receiving enthusiastic feedback on my creations, I decided to turn my passion into a business. Today, I pour my heart and soul into each piece, transforming fallen juniper into functional art.

The Creative Process

Every lamp I create follows a journey that starts with exploration and ends in a warm glow:

  • Scouting and Hiking
I spend countless hours hiking through remote areas of Wyoming, seeking out the most striking and unique juniper pieces.

  • Selecting the Perfect Wood
Each branch or stump must meet my standards for character, grain, and durability.

  • Design and Construction
Back in my workshop, I carefully clean, cut, and shape the wood. I combine traditional woodworking techniques with modern lamp fixtures to ensure safety, functionality, and beauty.

  • Finishing Touches
Stains, oils, and custom hardware are added to highlight the wood’s natural patterns. No two lamps ever look the same.

Why Juniper?

Juniper is a remarkable wood species native to Wyoming. Its weathered bark and twisted forms tell a story of survival in harsh climates. By incorporating juniper into my work, I aim to bring a piece of Wyoming’s spirit and history into your home or workspace.

Commitment to Sustainability

I’m dedicated to responsible harvesting—only using wood that has naturally fallen or come to the end of its life cycle. This approach respects the local ecosystem while allowing me to share Wyoming’s rugged beauty with you.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my craft. Every lamp I create is more than just a light source—it’s a tribute to the land that shaped me. I look forward to sharing a piece of Wyoming Rustic Creations with you.

Warm regards,
Cody Barney
